In the U.S a one month subcription will cost $9.99 with a three month subscription costing $24.99. The annual price will be raised by $10 USD. UK gamers will see an increase in 1 GBP to 5.99 for a one month membership. Canadians will have to may an extra $1 CAD a month to $9.99 and those gaming from Mexico will have to pay an additional 100 pesos bringing the total cost of a monthly subscription to 599 pesos.
Xbox Live's Major Nelson justified the price hike on his blog. "Since launching Xbox LIVE in 2002 we have continually added more content and entertainment experiences for our members, while keeping the price the same. We're confident that when the new pricing takes effect, an Xbox LIVE Gold membership will continue to offer the best value in the industry.
However, we do want to thank our loyal members and give you the opportunity to lock in your current price with an additional discount, so now would be a good time to renew your subscription."
