After a much rumored PAX reveal, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford announced that "We couldn't let the Duke die,".
The Texas based developer of Borderlands has confirmed that they have indeed taken up the reigns on Duke Nukem forever from the now defunct 3D Realms studio. The FPS is a sequel to the 1996 hit Duke Nukem 3D. Since 1997 the sequel was in development by 3D Realms and infamously suffered many production delays, which lead to the game becoming some what of a legendary joke in the gaming industry.
During the PAX panel, Pitchford suggested that Gearbox brought in several members of the 3D Realms team in order to make Duke Nukem Forever "the game it was supposed to be".
