Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3

The question this fall among gamers across the world will be: COD or Battlefield 3?

COD and Battlefield have raised the standard of gaming with each new release. The two franchises have made it so that any other game attempting to enter their FPS war game lane has to be given away with coupons because gamers want to spend their money on either COD or Battlefield.

It will be difficult for any competitor to snatch the title away from COD. Activision has released the numbers and COD has sold over 23 million copies – and 18 million DLC packs on top of that.

There is no question that COD has a hardcore fan base, but will they be able to keep them interested with new additions and features?

Multiplayer modes:

• Death match: The tried and true classic battle mode.
• Capture the flag: The goal is to retrieve the enemy flag and bring it back to your base for points.
• Survival mode: You and a team of soldiers gear up and attempt to survive an onslaught of opponents.
• Kill confirmation mode:  Scoop up the dog tags of enemies that fell by your hand of steal them from opponents after they do the dirty work.

These are a few of the multiplayer modes available that will keep fans of the game coming back for more. Some people don’t even play the single player campaigns because the multiplayer action is so intense.

For those gamers who do enjoy the campaign mode there is good news for you. The COD developers heard the complaints about the Modern Warfare 2 campaign mode and have gone back to the drawing board to deliver an experience that captivates gamers as much as the online mode does.

COD has beefed up everything that made it the leader of the pack with its latest installment. Kill streak bonuses have been tweaked to reward players who play with different styles. No longer is it just about the highest kill total; players who focus more on the team game and map objectives can also be rewarded.

The guns have been adjusted also. Gamers will be able to feel the difference better each type of weapon better with each having advantages and disadvantages to them that will alter how you choose to attack.

COD is set to release another assault on the consoles this fall but this battle won’t be won in a landslide.

Battlefield 3 is preparing to drop a couple of weeks before COD – giving it a head start on the competition.

The Battlefield series is undergoing an overhaul with a new engine called Frostbite 2. The updated system will enhance the visual aspects that made Battlefield 2 so much fun to play.

Benefits of Frostbite 2:

• Animation: The visual quality has improved.
• Scale: A greater sense of scale can be felt when players come across huge objects and massive environments. Running through cities and feeling small compared to huge buildings and vehicles will leave gamers speechless.
• Obliteration: Devastating explosions take place, and vehicles and walls get filled with bullet holes during battles.
• Appearance: The audio and character animations have been enhanced.

Battlefield 3 continues with the tradition of the series by providing a wide range of gameplay as well. The game will feature 20 drivable vehicles in the multiplayer mode. Each vehicle is customizable similar to the previous installments, but Battlefield 3 takes it a step further.

Each vehicle you drive has a gadget slot, a secondary weapon slot, and one upgrade slot that players can unlock. The more you use a vehicle and the more damage you dish out with it the greater the reward will be as new specialization features become available.

Here are a few of the vehicles available: attack jets, armored transports, attack helicopters, battle tanks, scout helicopters, and infantry fighting vehicles.

Battlefield 3 will give gamers the ability to destroy the opposition by land or air in multiple ways and look great doing it.

Whichever franchise you decide to go with this fall, you will be guaranteed hours of intense single and multiplayer gaming.
